Welcome

I am an artist, not a writer. My Intent is not to educate, enlighten or inspire but rather to clarify my motivations to myself. I find that when I write down the thoughts and reasons that I take certain paths, it helps me to avoid repeating the same mistakes over and over again. Let's face it, authentic work evolves through a series of mistakes, lessons learned and options eliminated.

Open Dialogue

“Open Dialogue” 31”x 38” polished cement & dry pigment on panel

My last few pieces have all been the same size, 31"x 38". The size and aspect ratio greatly influences the marks that I make in an image. At this point, I am standardizing the size mainly to eliminate a variable, plus I think they will work well together in an upcoming show. I have introduced some rather strong color elements to see how they affect the surface relief and texture.
